Priyanka Chopra - Indian Bollywood Actress in World Record Book

Didn’t we always praised Priyanka for her hard work and professionalism. The young actress seems to leave no stone unturned to excel in her career. She didn’t though create the world record for hard work.

Priyanka Chopra plays 12 different characters in her forth coming film What’s your Rashee. She is the only actress in the world to do as many as 12 roles in one film. So, Priyanka is ready to list herself in the Guinness Book of World Records for this achievement.

Ashutosh Gowariker’s What’s Your Rashee? Is no doubt opening new dimensions for the actress. Priyanka quips “If this does happen, it will be phenomenal. I’m overjoyed and honoured to be a part of this record-breaking film.”

Producer Sunita Gowariker says “Priyanka has not only played 12 different roles, but breathed life into 12 distinct characters without the aide of any prosthetic. Few peoplerealize how difficult a challenge it is. This we gauged when we spoke to the Guinness officials. No actor has ever played so many different roles in cinema of any language. So it truly is a world record.”

Her close competitors are veteran Kamal Hassan with 10 roles in Dashavataram, Sanjeev Kumar and Sivaji Ganeshan with 9 roles each in Naya Din Nayi Raat and Navarathiri, respectively.

Talking about Hollywood, Eddie Murphy has done seven roles in The Nutty Professor and 8 roles in its sequel. Eric Idle has done 7 characters in his film Monty Python and The Holy Grail (1975). Similarly, Alec Guinness has eight roles in his Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949).

But, we don’t have a female contender as such, so all hats off!

Asha Bhonsle - Sung Most Number of Song set World Record

Since 1994, Asha Bhonsle has been carefully documenting the number of songs she has sung. At last count, she says it stands at a staggering 13,000. As her 76th birthday approaches on September 8, Asha says that she is "pained" to see that nobody is recognizing her record attempt.

"I am glad that amazon.com has placed me and my album at 37 on the World's Greatest Music Albums of all times, ahead of even AR Rahman (who stands at no 44). I humbly accept the honour. But there's something I think I truly deserve and I was surprised when I was told that the record category (Most Recorded Artist) has been done away with," says Asha, referring to the Guinness Book of World Records, which has previously recognized Lata Mangeskar as the singer who has sung the most number of songs in the world (from 1974-1991).
"I have been carefully documenting the number of songs that I have sung. On my 60th birthday, there was a book published called Swar Asha. That book documented the number of songs I have sung. It stands at 13,000 now, mainly because of the large number of regional songs I have sung," she says.
But as she was readied to stake claim, a shock awaited her. "I am told that Guinness has done away with that record. I don't know what was the politics behind removing that record altogether and not allowing anybody to claim it again. I have been recording four to five songs a day for so many years to create the record," she adds.
But Asha says she does not intend to write to the Guinness authorities about it. What is occupying her energies right now is her plan to launch her grandson Chin2 Bhonsle (son of her eldest son Hemant) as a music director and opening a restaurant in Mumbai. "I have eight restaurants in the Middle East and now I want to open my restaurant in Mumbai. I am looking for a suitable location and should finalise it soon," she signs off.

Taylor Swift - MTV Best Female Video Award Winner set World Record

Taylor Swift, the recent Best Female Video award winner at the MTV Video Music Awards, has set a Guinness World Record.

Taylor has now entered the Guinness Book of World Records and set a new record for Most Entries In The US Top 20 In A Year By A Solo Artist.

The star has been in the press a lot recently after rapper Kanye West stole the mic from her acceptance speech at the VMAs, saying: "Yo, Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'll let you finish, but Beyonce has one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time."

The country singer's album Fearless, which includes Taylor's six top 20 singles from the past year, including You Belong with Me, has enabled the 19-year-old to enter the famous record book.

The Guinness Book of World Records will be out this Thursday. The current issue also features Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson who are named as the highest grossing lead actors of the decade.

The Curse Of Celebrity On Marriage

Rebecca & John

Just in time for her movie premiere The Punisher , Rebecca Romijn-Stamos announced that she and her husband John Stamos have separated after a 10-year relationship, which included almost 6 years of marriage.

And although one would think she'd be depressed about the situation, Rebecca's doing her thing by appearing on talk shows to discuss the movie and glide over the separation. So one has to wonder; will this help or hinder her career? And will she mysteriously reconcile with John once the premieres come and go?

The outcome remains to be seen.

David & Posh & Rebecca & Sarah

Recently, word got out that soccer superstar David Beckham, who claimed that he loved his wife Victoria Beckham (a.k.a. Posh Spice) with his heart and soul, had a torrid affair with none other than his personal assistant, Rebecca Loos.

Funnily enough, most of Britain, who considers the couple royalty, blames Posh for the affair, but when the tish hit the fan, I think we all know exactly who that tish belonged to.

Loos claims that she and Becks got down and dirty on a few occasions. And now, a second woman, an Aussie named Sarah Marbeck claims that she, too, did the nasty with the Real Madrid soccer player. Whether it's all true remains to be seen, but there's no doubt that with fame, comes lots and lots of scandal. And you don't need to come from Hollywood for that to happen.

Tom & Nicole & Penelope

When Tom Cruise announced that he and Nicole Kidman were getting divorced in 2001, everyone tripped out because they just "seemed so happy." The announcement came just before their 10th wedding anniversary.

Then, after we all took a moment to blink, Tom was humping his Vanilla Sky co-star Penelope Cruz. And considering Tom was just walking away from a second divorce, men across the world were sure that Penelope wouldn't be getting a diamond any time soon.

Lo and behold, Cruise waved ba-bye to Cruz after three years together and now rumors are circulating that Tom and Nicole may be patching things up "for the sake of the children." Then again, that might just be the press messing with you.

Now Pam plans to remarry, Bruce, Demi, Ashton, and Brooke are having one big party, and check out who I think might make it in Hollywood.

Tommy & Pamela & Amp; Kid

When Pamela Anderson married Tommy Lee after only four days of dating, people assumed they were doomed. Two children and a domestic abuse charge later, the people were proven right.

After Pamela slept with half the city and got hammered every chance she got, she then claimed that Tommy gave her hepatitis C and wanted sole custody of their children. Then, she met greasy rocker Kid Rock and began dating him seriously. Surprisingly they didn't make a sex tape together.

After playing with his head (both literally and figuratively) for a couple of years, it seems that Tommy and Pam have decided to remarry. Of course, it is possible that they may last until death do them part this time, but then, that would be too easy.

For now, it seems Pamela is still content to bounce around from one greasy rocker to another. And even Tommy claims that he's dating none other than supermodel Naomi Campbell. But they'll probably get married anyhow.

Ashton, Demi, Bruce & Brooke

When Demi Moore and Bruce Willis called it quits in 1998, fans were stunned considering they seemed like a cool enough couple. And because Demi bombed in theaters with her rendition of a stripper in 1996's Striptease and then a tough chick in 1997's G.I. Jane , she gave Hollywood a rest while Bruce continued his career, quite successfully I might add.

Then, in 2003, a then 40-year-old Demi resurfaced, looking hotter than we've ever seen her, and with 25-year-old Ashton Kutcher on her arm. And if that wasn't enough, ex-husband Bruce was right behind her with their three daughters to boot.

After rumors swirled that Demi and Ashton were getting hitched, 49-year-old Bruce went and found himself a 26-year-old babe in the form of Brooke Burns. Rumors circulated that they, too, were engaged, but Bruce has since quelled the rumors. But considering this is Hollywood, I think they'll be married and divorced in no time.

Will anyone last?

Although the chances of anyone making it to the very end when it comes to relationships are close to nil, there are some Hollywood couples that I think may find a way to last forever.

Brad Pitt & Jennifer Aniston -- married since 2000
Guy Ritchie & Madonna -- married since 2000
David Arquette & Courteney Cox-Arquette -- married since 1999
Richie Sambora & Heather Locklear -- married since 1994
John Travolta & Kelly Preston -- married since 1991
Tim Robbins & Susan Sarandon (not married) together since 1988
Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson -- married since 1988
Kurt Russell & Goldie Hawn (not married) together since 1982
Ozzy Osbourne & Sharon Osbourne -- married since 1982

Which celebrity once said: "Being married means I can break wind and eat ice cream in bed"?

1- Brad Pitt
2- Tom Cruise
3- Tommy Lee
4- David Beckham

Rakhi Sawant – Elesh.P Engagement Stills » Rakhi_Sawant – Elesh wedding

Aishwarya, Shah Rukh ‘Actors of the Decade’

Superstars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan were declared ‘Actors of the Decade’ at the IIFA awards at Macau on Saturday night.
Aishwarya won two honorary awards for her work in Indian and international cinema, while Shah Rukh was honoured for his work in Bollywood.
The 35-year-old actress, who also performed on stage at the function, received both trophies, while Shah Rukh missed the ceremony because he is shooting for his upcoming film ‘My Name is Khan.’
The 43-year-old actor, who began his career on the small screen, beat Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Abhishek Bachchan to the title.
Aishwarya won the ‘Golden Decade’ award for her memorable performances in the past 10 years, beating off competition from Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.
While Aishwarya shot to global recognition with international projects like ‘Pink Panther’ and ‘Provoked,’ Khan too has a global following as the ‘Badshah of Bollywood.’
The former Miss World won the ‘Outstanding Achievement by Indian in International Cinema’ award, which was bagged last year by musician A.R. Rahman, who won the ‘Golden Decade of Music’ award for his contribution to Indian films.
Bollywood international award winning spree this year seems to have outshined even Hollywood. How do you agree/ disagree? Mail your comments:

Zardari thanks Angelina Jolie for million dollars aid

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari made a 'thank you' call to Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie for donating a million dollars for the people displaced by anti-Taliban military operations in the country's northwest.
Mr. Zardari thanked Ms. Jolie and her companion Brad Pitt, who jointly run the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, during the phone call on Monday and also invited them to visit Pakistan, sources said.
The Hollywood power couple has been running the Jolie-Pitt Foundation to assist in humanitarian crises around the world.
Ms. Jolie, who has been a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commission on Refugees since 2001, donated a million dollars on World Refugee Day to aid displaced people in Pakistan.
Ms. Jolie said she decided to provide aid to the displaced Pakistanis because the refugee crisis in the country was relatively new and the numbers of displaced persons had "jumped so quickly".
"I think in the last few weeks, there were about 100,000 displaced a day. There's over two million now. I think it's just there has been a giant appeal, a lot of funds have been sent in, a lot of aid has come to the people---but the numbers are so extraordinary and they're growing," Ms. Jolie told U.S. news agency after making the donation.

Jackson no more with us, but his music will live forever

Tears flowed outside a hospital here Thursday as hundreds of Michael Jackson fans gathered to mourn the loss of the music legend, stunned by his sudden death at the age of 50, apparently from a cardiac arrest, at his Beverly Hills home.
Celebrities, stars and millions of his fans around the globe were overwhelmed by sorrow and shock as they sought to absorb the news of the sudden death of pop icon Michael Jackson.
"I'm absolutely devastated at this news," bestselling record producer and musician Quincy Jones told. "I just don't have the words. Divinity brought our souls together and allowed us to do what we could do through the '80s," Jones said. "To this day that music is played in every corner of the world, and the reason is because he had it all -- talent, grace, and professionalism. I've lost my little brother today and part of my soul has gone with him."
Pop diva Madonna revealed she was left in tears over the death of Michael Jackson. ”I have always admired Michael Jackson. The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever! My heart goes out to his three children and other members of his family. God bless.”
Britney Spears joining the chorus of musicians paying tribute to Michael Jackson said, "He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed".
California Governor Arnold Schwarzegger issued a statement lamenting the loss of "one of the most influential and iconic figures in the music industry."
"I'm just devastated, very sad. I pray that his soul is up there now," close friend Uri Geller told, after multiple US news outlets confirmed Jackson's death. "I'm still trying to hold on to the glimmer that it is not true. It is too surreal for me to absorb that Michael is no longer with us." "Michael was in good shape because he was practicing, he was training, he was rehearsing for the shows," Geller said.
US actor Jamie Foxx was in the middle of an interview with "Extra" TV when the news broke, and said he hoped Jackson would be remembered as a "brilliant musician" and not for "the circus sideshow" that his life turned into.
British Foreign Secretary David Miliband also posted his thoughts on Jackson's death on Twitter. "Never has one soared so high and yet dived so low. RIP Michael," Miliband wrote.
"Right today I can't believe we might have lost the best entertainer this world has ever seen," sobbed Lana Brown, 49, from Dallas, who described herself "as the biggest Jackson fan ever".
"I left my office. Everyone should. It's so shocking. Because you think someone like Michael Jackson will live forever, like Peter Pan," Yoshiko Plair, clasping a sunflower for her icon, told.
Many paid tribute to Jackson's influence on the world of music and dance. His album "Thriller" remains the bestselling album of all time with more than 41 million sales. And his iconic moonwalk has passed into dance legend, endlessly copied by millions of dancers around the world. "From a dancer's perspective, he was the epitome of the natural mover and popularized the 'moonwalk' from his Billy Jean video. Of course, the dance that he did for 'Thriller' is still performed, used and emulated constantly," Ashley Roland, co-artistic director of the Oregon-based dance company BodyVox, told. "He was an inspiration to so many, and I am one of them." British child actor Mark Lester, the godfather to Jackson's children, said he was in shock at the news, and praised Jackson's attributes as a father. "They're the most fabulous kids -- whatever they need, they've got me," Lester told.
You may post your thoughts and sentiments as well.

A.R Rahman invited onto Oscar board

Music genius A.R Rahman has got an invitation to be an Oscar voter. Rahman has been in news ever since he won two Oscars earlier this year for his score in Slumdog Millionaire.

This is another big news for Allah rakkha Rahman’s career. Rahman has won all the known awards for his music. He is the 1995 recipient of the Mauritius National Award and the Malaysian Award for contributions to music.

He was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for his first West-End production. A four time National Film Award winner and conferred the Padma Shri from the Government of India, Rahman has received six awards for Best Music at the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and eleven awards for his scores at the Filmfare and Filmfare Awards South each. In 2006, he received an honorary award from Stanford University for contributions to global music. A 2008 Critics Choice Awards winner for Best Composer, Rahman became the first Indian national to win a Golden Globe, winning for Slumdog Millionaire in the category of Best Original Score.

Wow, what an enormous achievement so soon, so young Allah Rakha Rahman, born A.S. Dileep Kumar on January 6, 1966, in Madras (now Chennai), India, to a musically affluent family--for him it seems sky is the limit

Priyanka’s sore eyes--may be because of some 'Boori Nazar'?

Come rain or shine, I’ll be going on. This line may be apt for Piggy Chops as on now.
Priyanka Chopra is said to be suffering from eye infection; but she has not a made an excuse out it. The ‘Fashion’able actress has been carrying on with her busy schedules despite of the conjunctivitis.

It seems the infection is due to her prolonged use of the contact lens. Priyanka is involved in two big bannered projects - ‘What's Your Raashee?’ which is complete and ongoing ‘Pyaar Impossible’. So she is going on shooting without any proper rest. She is also not willing to give up the use of lens, since it will hinder the shootings.

Sources said, "It is still a bit difficult for her to shoot, as when they need a continuation sequence of Priyanka, she has to wear the lenses."

Poor Priyanka. Maybe this is because of some ‘Boori Nazar’?

Did Indians over-react to Shah Rukh being detained?

Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan was en-route to Chicago for a parade to mark Independence Day, when he was detained and questioned at Newark airport.
After a couple of hours’ interrogation, the 43-year-old actor was allowed to make a call, getting in touch with the Indian consulate, who vouched for him and secured his release.
The incident sparked uproar among Khan’s fans in India, who vented their anger over the Internet and in protest marches.
This is not the first time an Indian celebrity has had trouble with U.S. immigration officials and security checks. Last month, U.S-based carrier Continental Airlines apologised to former Indian president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for frisking him at New Delhi airport.
On Saturday, Information Minister Ambika Soni said while she could not say if Khan had been detained “on religious grounds, there have been too many instances like these in the U.S. concerning Indians”. A Times of India report on Sunday said U.S. officials feel some Indian visitors are “needlessly huffy about routine security procedures and there is a broad cultural mismatch”.
Are Indians over-reacting? Or is the U.S. taking things a bit too far? Khan is a celebrity, but what about ordinary Indians, who travel to the U.S. — do they face racial profiling?

Foreign movies in Pakistan theatres to galore Eid season

As the film industry has failed miserably to produce quality movies after becoming more or less impotent, cinemas are all set to screen Indian and American movies on upcoming Eid. The two Eids have traditionally been considered most appropriate time to market films. But the Lollywood, keeping its recent but sad ritual alive, being unable to produce for satisfying the demands of people, will launch only three films, while maximum cinemas are presenting three new Bollywood and two Hollywood films, which is a continuation of the trend of exhibiting foreign movies in theatres across Pakistan.
Cinemas are a part of the market that always follows demand and supply rule. That is why both scarcity of products and absence of would be movie-watchers have forced almost every theatre, including those located in the Northern Lahore and Walled City, in the metropolis identified as the cultural hub of the country, to switch over either to Indian or English films.
The cinema-owners and distributors are of the view that local films have failed to attract the audience to sustain the industry; therefore, they are without any choice except foreign movies. They are purchasing the screening rights for the latest Bollywood and Hollywood movies due to negligible and poor quality local production.
The cinemas throughout Punjab including Empire, Sozo World, Metropole, Mir Mahal, Sanay Gold, Cine Star, Nishat, Shaheen Auditorium and Shama at Sialkot; Dream Land and Rex at Multan; Gulistan at Sheikhupura; Seroz and Sany Pex at Rawalpindi; Prince, Taj Mahal and Sabina at Faisalabad; Zinko Palace at Gujranwala; and Shaheen Auditorium at Sargodha have planned to exhibit Indian and English movies. It is worth recalling that the Bollywood products Kambakht Ishq, Luck, Love Aaj Kal and New York are already doing huge business throughout the country. A few cinemas including Minor at Faisalabad, Capri at Multan, Capri at Gujranawala, Serooz at Rawalpindi, Sazia at Gujrat, Gulistan at Sialkot, Shaheen and New Gulistan at Sargoodha will display a local Punjabi film Nach K Yaar Manana directed by Masood Butt.

Rani Mukherjee says she and Shahid Kapur

Dil Bole Hadippa - touted to be Rani's comeback vehicle after a string of flops - has her cast opposite Shahid Kapur. And while the two have a visible age difference, Rani doesn't think so. Speaking to the press, the Bunty aur Babli actress said that when she and Shahid looked at the monitors on the first day of shooting, they couldn't believe their eyes, as they looked great together.
She added that producer Aditya Chopra must be confident that they would look good together. Dil Bole Hadippa releases on September 18.
Rani also revealed a little known fact: Dil Bole Hadippa is not the first time the two have worked together. The two had worked together on a Pepsi commercial several years ago, which also featured Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, and Shahid Kapur was working as a model at that time. Rani revealed that Shahid used to look at her in awe and kept watching her.
Another nugget about Shahid's career as a model/dancer has also emerged recently: the Kaminey star was a background dancer in a sequence with Karisma Kapoor in Dil To Pagal Hai, the hit film which also starred Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit. Shahid revealed this to Farah Khan when appearing on her new talk show, Tere Mere Beech Mein, where he also confessed that the reason he never felt despondent about his flop films when he was starting out was because of the encouragement of then-girlfriend Kareena Kapoor, who had become his "support system." But with the success of Kaminey and the praise being lavished on Shahid, we bet he doesn't miss his support system anymore…

Bono to produce film about 70s cover bands starring Liam Neeson

U2 front man Bono is constantly busy - if he isn't touring the world with U2, he's busy with humanitarian work - and now he's found another film project to produce.

According to Variety, Bono will produce the film The Virgin of Las Vegas which features actor Liam Neeson as an ageing singer during the 70s cover bands craze

The film will be set around the world of show bands, the Irish pop culture craze from the early, pre-television rock 'n' roll era, when covers bands attracted large followings. Neeson will star as an ageing singer drinking his time away in Las Vegas until he "finds his life turned on its head following the arrival of a mysterious stranger", according to Variety.
Liam Neeson has just got back to work after the tragic death of his wife, actress Natasha Richardson, and will next be seen in the remakes of Clash of the Titans and The A-Team, as well as the third Chronicles of Narnia film and the title role in Steven Spielberg's biopic, Lincoln.

Has Nicole Kidman abandoned her adopted kids?

She may dote on daughter Sunday Rose, but Nicole Kidman has been accused of abandoning the two children she adopted with former husband Tom Cruise. Reports emerging from the US this week claim the Oscar winner's kids Isabella, 16, and Connor, 14 (seen in the picture as toddlers) - whom she and Cruise brought up during their 11-year marriage - no longer call her "mum". They now call her by her first name. And it's no surprise since Nicole has spent absolutely no time with them since the filming of Australia.
Kidman's US representative rubbished the reports, saying the article was "entirely made up" and that they were handling the situation.
Both Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise have gone on to remarry and have children, with Kidman and country crooner Keith Urban exchanging vows in 2006 and Cruise walking down the aisle with Katie Holmes the same year. They both have a biological child each from their second marriage (Nicole and Keith have Sunday Rose and Tom and Katie have Suri) while Isabella and Connor both live in New York with TomKat. And Nicole's neglect begins here. Tom it seems is also not a great step dad.
Neither Kidman nor Cruise attended the premiere of Will Smith's Seven Pounds - Connor's acting debut - with their son late last year but in July, Cruise took his adopted children to see David Beckham play soccer for team LA Galaxy in California. The Beckhams are his chums. And to the best of anyone's knowledge, Kidman has not been publicly seen with her adopted kids since she started filming Australia in May 2007.
The irony is that Nicole Kidman recently wrapped up filming an upcoming drama Rabbit Hole, in which she plays a suburban wife dealing with the loss of a child. Celebrity adoptions (Brangelina and Madonna topping the charts) have become popular but the follow up into the lives of these children doesn't always show a rosy picture. We're sure Connor and Isabella would agree.
