Karadeniz Power Ship for Pakistan
SOS for Pakistan – The KAYABEY Power Ship
Pakistan is facing the worst ever electricity crisis in its history. Thanks to years of mismanagement, shortsightedness and corruption; a country bestowed with rivers, enough wind to generate 50,000 MW and a Solar belt that can also generate an additional thousands of Mega Watts of electricity, not to mention the world’s biggest coal reserves. The city of Karachi, the industrial hub of Pakistan and a city which generates almost 65 % of the country’s revenue was the worst hit. Karachiites suffered, and are still experiencing up to 12 hours of load shedding. Now a Turkish Power Ship, perhaps the only of its kind has set sail from Istanbul to Karachi which will give the city a relief of some 230 MW. This agreement has been signed for a period of 60 months, or 5 years. This may sound as good news, but the point to note here is that this is again a short term solution, it will run on fossil fuel and it is not going to be cheap, not at all.
Our daily newspapers carried this story along with a photograph of the ship which words like “ To end the power problems of Pakistani brothers and sisters”. Well, I have no qualms at admitting that I wept on seeing this picture. Not because it carried an emotional message, but because despite being bestowed with so much we are still waiting for God knows who to help us and alleviate our problems. That perhaps is the most painful thing. The leadership will never understand this, there are suffering from acute shortsightedness I guess.

Monitoring Policy for SMS & Email..
In the past week some very disturbing developments have taken place, in regards to the new sms and email monitoring policy of the establishments. According to the sketchy details available until now, a monitoring cell has been established to keep a track of all the information flowing around, in an attempt to halt anti government campaign.
The logic behind this new episode is yet to understand. Practically, in the past all around the world we have seen governments taking these steps only to ensure “National Security”, but this step seems to be rather “regime security” oriented. A society or a government, what ever it is can not prevail without accountability. A country like Pakistan, where a dire security threat is looming, can be expected to put a restriction on hate propagating literature, but a step of this nature is beyond my imagination. The policy is censorship has never delivered, nor will it this time around. If you receive an email or an sms giving you a statistic of how much extra taxation is leveled on the price of 1 liter petrol, neither the receiver nor the sender can be termed a criminal. In fact, freedom of expression is a basic right of any individual, and there is no second opinion to this.
Regime security seems logical in Moammar Gadaffi’s Libya or Kim Jong II North Korea, but in a democratic setup this is a brutality, a torture and a complete injustice. Just take the case of Americans. During the peak of War on Terror and 9/11 saga, there own citizen came up with “Fahrenheit 9/11”to prove that 9/11 was an inside job, not some Iranian journalist who made it. I never heard President Bush or his team went after any campaign like this, and this is a reality that the greatest suspicion came to surface through the documentaries produced in the West.
To those responsible in taking an initiative like this, we have a simple suggestion that care is better than cure. Instead of silencing all the voices, its better to pay a heed to them. Every Pakistani cares, that’s why they want their voices not only to be heard, but also dealt with. Lets see if the establishment will review its decision, or sooner we will hear the breaking news that blogging has also been declared a crime!

Where is picture of Quaid -e- Azam
The T20 Champs Pakistani team met with president Zardari and prime minister Gillani. The official photo of the dinner is here. Amazingly, there is no photo of our beloved Quaid or Iqbal, however even Bilawal can find space for his picture.

India among 20 Most Dangerous Places in the World
London: Terror attack in Mumbai has severely dented the country's image as a safest heaven for tourists.
A British report says that following the attack, India has slipped to a list of the 20 most dangerous places to visit on Earth.
UK daily The Telegraph, which prepared the list, said in an online report that the British government was currently advising against all, but essential, travel to Mumbai.
India has been listed along side countries like Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Mexico, Thailand and South Africa in this list.
Chechnya, Jamaica, Sudan, Colombia, Haiti, Eritrea, Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Burundi, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Lebanon have also been named among the 20 most dangerous places to visit on Earth.
Although the Foreign Office is currently advising against all, but essential, travel to Mumbai, most of the rest of India is considered safe, according to the report.

Zardari thanks Angelina Jolie for million dollars aid
Mr. Zardari thanked Ms. Jolie and her companion Brad Pitt, who jointly run the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, during the phone call on Monday and also invited them to visit Pakistan, sources said.
The Hollywood power couple has been running the Jolie-Pitt Foundation to assist in humanitarian crises around the world.
Ms. Jolie, who has been a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commission on Refugees since 2001, donated a million dollars on World Refugee Day to aid displaced people in Pakistan.
Ms. Jolie said she decided to provide aid to the displaced Pakistanis because the refugee crisis in the country was relatively new and the numbers of displaced persons had "jumped so quickly".
"I think in the last few weeks, there were about 100,000 displaced a day. There's over two million now. I think it's just there has been a giant appeal, a lot of funds have been sent in, a lot of aid has come to the people---but the numbers are so extraordinary and they're growing," Ms. Jolie told U.S. news agency after making the donation.
Pakistan faces population time bomb, whom to blame?
Pakistan’s population is growing so fast despite decades of family planning efforts that in 40 years it will be the fourth largest country in the world.
The United Nations Population Division projects that Pakistan would overtake Brazil and Indonesia by 2050 to rank fourth in the world population, almost doubling to 335 million from its current 180 million, a private news channel reported. “For a country with the resources of Pakistan that is enormous.
How can Pakistan support a population of that size with jobs, education and health care? It cannot do so right now with the population it has,” said Daniel Baker, who heads the UN Family Planning Association in Pakistan.
Pakistan currently ranks sixth behind China, India, the United States, Indonesia and Brazil. On its creation in 1947, the subcontinent’s new Islamic republic had 37 million people and was ranked 15th in the world. In 60 years it has multiplied nearly five times, and now Pakistan has a population growth rate of 2.2 per cent per year, and surpassed in South Asia only by Afghanistan, according to UN population data.
The rapid population growth poses potentially disastrous consequences. “If the growth rate continues the way it is, it is totally unacceptable. We do not have the resources. We are already overstretched,” Dr Qazi said.
A youth bulge in the current population, also known as a “demographic dividend”, provides the potential to ramp up economic productivity and prosperity generation. Fifty-seven per cent of Pakistan’s population is between 15 and 64, and 41 per cent are under 15. Only four per cent are over 65.
“Pakistan is now experiencing its largest ever youth bulge. It could be a huge capital asset if it could be taken into account; or it could be taken the other way around if you do not take it into account,” Dr Qazi said. “When you do not make positive capital investments in this youth bulge, then it is taken away by the other side and you see violence and all that coming in. It is a very scary picture.”
Who’s to be blamed for such reckless way of life—culture and traditions---religious taboos—illiteracy--climatic conditions, poverty and frustrations or Indo-US-Israel conspiracy?
Don’t we need to look into ourselves and change our way of life?
We very often keep blaming, our relatives, our neighbours, our District, Provincial and Federal governments for our woes, to some extent may be rightly, but at times, willfully or ignorantly disregard the fact that it may be because of our own modes and behaviour, tradition and culture and callous way of life. Is it not a fact that when it comes to demanding, we are not willing to accept anything less than what the citizens in civilized societies are enjoying, but would pay no heed to the duties and responsibilities that a civilized society citizens voluntarily discharge? It is rightly said that first deserve and then demand. Let us not forget that good governance that we all keep yearning would only come through, if the different tiers of the government as well as the people at large discharge their duties and responsibilities to the society honestly.
Aerial firing in celebrations, may it be on the eve of wedding, the birth of a son, the sighting of the moon falling different festivals, New Year festivity and hailing the Independence Day etc. is one of such tribal tradition that we have not been able to give up even after our nation grew up recently celebrating 62 Independence Day of Pakistan, when it was observed that despite high security alert, miscreants were able to resort to aerial firing unhindered from August 13 night onwards, which left at least 30 people injured, including women and children.
Despite the huge presence of police and Rangers in the city, no arrests were made. Miscreants also openly violated the ban on pillion riding while carrying flags of various political parties, and blocked many arteries of the city. Their “celebration” caused traffic jams at various points, causing immense miseries to other citizens - particularly to aerial firing victims, who had to be rushed to hospitals in critical condition.
Sadly, it was not only the illiterates, but even the educated persons also were seen indulging in all these unruly activities, making this precept of the wise men wrong that education is the panacea for all social evils, as for us even this seems to be an utter failure because it has thus far made no difference here.

Foreign movies in Pakistan theatres to galore Eid season
As the film industry has failed miserably to produce quality movies after becoming more or less impotent, cinemas are all set to screen Indian and American movies on upcoming Eid. The two Eids have traditionally been considered most appropriate time to market films. But the Lollywood, keeping its recent but sad ritual alive, being unable to produce for satisfying the demands of people, will launch only three films, while maximum cinemas are presenting three new Bollywood and two Hollywood films, which is a continuation of the trend of exhibiting foreign movies in theatres across Pakistan.
Cinemas are a part of the market that always follows demand and supply rule. That is why both scarcity of products and absence of would be movie-watchers have forced almost every theatre, including those located in the Northern Lahore and Walled City, in the metropolis identified as the cultural hub of the country, to switch over either to Indian or English films.
The cinema-owners and distributors are of the view that local films have failed to attract the audience to sustain the industry; therefore, they are without any choice except foreign movies. They are purchasing the screening rights for the latest Bollywood and Hollywood movies due to negligible and poor quality local production.
The cinemas throughout Punjab including Empire, Sozo World, Metropole, Mir Mahal, Sanay Gold, Cine Star, Nishat, Shaheen Auditorium and Shama at Sialkot; Dream Land and Rex at Multan; Gulistan at Sheikhupura; Seroz and Sany Pex at Rawalpindi; Prince, Taj Mahal and Sabina at Faisalabad; Zinko Palace at Gujranwala; and Shaheen Auditorium at Sargodha have planned to exhibit Indian and English movies. It is worth recalling that the Bollywood products Kambakht Ishq, Luck, Love Aaj Kal and New York are already doing huge business throughout the country. A few cinemas including Minor at Faisalabad, Capri at Multan, Capri at Gujranawala, Serooz at Rawalpindi, Sazia at Gujrat, Gulistan at Sialkot, Shaheen and New Gulistan at Sargoodha will display a local Punjabi film Nach K Yaar Manana directed by Masood Butt.
Hidden Facts Between British India's Freedom
"Hidden Facts Behind British India’s Freedom: A Scholarly Look into Allama Mashraqi and Quaid-e-Azam’s Political Conflict"
Book Description:
Allama Mashraqi (Inayatullah Khan) and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, two eminent 20th century personalities of the Indian sub-continent, fought for freedom — the former for an undivided and the latter for a divided British India. The political controversy between these two leaders over the partition of the Indian sub-continent is an extremely important topic from the independence movement’s perspective. This work discusses Allama Mashraqi’s rigorous efforts to prevent the Muslims and India from being divided, while Quaid-e-Azam remained focused on the partition of India.
Separation divided the country and the Muslims into three parts, and the majority of 100 million Muslims became second-class citizens in their own homeland. To nationalist leaders of the time (who were anti-partition), Quaid-e-Azam was playing in the hands of the British; and the gilded gentry of All-India Muslim League (AIML) had no history of serving the masses and partition was a short cut to their ambition. Did the British use the AIML, and was a truncated Pakistan a parting kick of the British to weaken the Muslims? And why did the British never imprison AIML leadership, if the AIML was truly fighting to end their rule?
Many other intriguing questions arise that have yet to satisfy a logical mind. For instance, why did the British deny recognition of all Muslim parties, except
AIML, and never sought their points of view? Why did the AIML insist on division, when Pakistan could not safeguard 100 million Muslims? Why was it necessary to create Pakistan out of Muslim majority provinces where they were already in power? Were nationalists, who were anti-partition, lacking in vision or apathetic to the future of the Muslims? Why has the nationalist point of view of an undivided India been kept concealed (libraries are kept empty of their material), and why has the public only been reading the AIML’s perspective?
This book brings these questions to light and presents Mashraqi’s point of view. The author uncovers facts that are not easy to dispute and unearths the falsehood, the twisting and manipulation of facts and the propaganda surrounding the freedom movement. It reveals the hidden truths behind the creation of Pakistan and shatters misconceptions regarding the history of the Indian sub-continent.

A letter from wife of an officer serving in Swat
A letter from wife of an officer serving in Swat
This is a fascinating message from one of our sisters whose is also wife of a Ghazi officer serving in Swat and elsewhere to protect the Pak Sarzameen. We want to share it with you all. Those who have never shed their blood for the motherland nor risked any loved one can never understand how it feels to fight and die for a sacred cause, noble mission and romantic dream. Here our sister shares her feelings with us. She is absolutely right that it is India in Swat. We even have proof that there are non-Muslim troops fighting against us perhaps of Gorkha or Uzbek origin. It is time, nation stop doubting the cause and start backing the army big time. May Allah bless this land always and forever, AMEEN.
"Dear Brother Zaid Hamid,
May Allah give you more strength, as you have touched our (Pakistanis’) hearts, and have brought us together on this platform.
I am a wife, daughter, grandaughter, and daughter in law of army officers. Infact, I’m also the daughter of one of those “chand pagal pakistani’ who are still uncorrupt and working day and night to revive and progress some of our institutions. I have also experienced the tension as a wife, while my husband was serving the nation in Swat. It feels great once people applaud the sacrifices of army personnel.
At this time I would like to point out how some people allege that our soldiers do this for the salaries and land allotments – Trust me you cannot PAY someone to put their lives on the line and to emrace shahadat (Martyr) for our country. Our soldiers unlike our enemies do not fear death cause they know that they are serving for the cause of a nation “PAKISTAN’. And because of that, no matter how many hurdles India has thrown in its way, ALLAH will save our beloved country.
REST ASSURED THAT IT IS INDIA BEHIND SWAT. Hindus have not come out of the complex that they lost their ‘Indian land’ to the Pakistanis.

Confirmed: Pakistani Taliban Using Indian/US Weapons
Finally, the military admits what Pakistan’s pro-U.S. government has been hiding for months. The weapons that the terrorists – the fake Pakistani Taliban – are using to kill Pakistanis are coming from U.S. and India. Some members of the Karzai puppet regime have privately confirmed to Pakistani officials that they are incapable of stopping Indian terrorist activities on Afghan soil. To avoid embarrassment, Washington quickly ‘leaked’ a story that U.S. weapons given to Afghan security forces have reached insurgents. The timing of the leak conveniently coincided with the Pakistani army discovering the American double game. The Americans have been taking Pakistan for a ride for seven years.
By DAN QAYYUM
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan—Briefing reporters about the progress of operation Rahe Rast, military spokesman Major General Athar Abbas yesterday revealed the extent of foreign support that the TTP terrorists are getting from Afghanistan. Large caches of weapons of US and INDIAN origin have been found as the security forces completely secure control of Mingora city, destroying various training centers of terrorists and killing important militant commanders, the military said.
The Americans have their excuses in order – Earlier this year it was revealed that over 200,000 US weapons – including assault rifles and grenade launchers – are ‘missing’ from the US army’s inventory in Afghanistan. The US army is unable to provide serial numbers for a large number of the missing weapons and no records have been maintained for the location or disposition for the rest.
The Pakistan Army, quite rightly, has told the Americans to stop worrying about Pakistan’s nuclear weapons and start worrying about the weapons ‘lost’ in Afghanistan.
Coming to the issue of Indian made weapons found in Swat – India claims its consulates in Afghanistan only issue visas for Afghan tourists to India and runs scholarship programs for Afghan students. The Indians also claim their presence in Afghanistan is limited to reconstruction and aid efforts.
Here is what Christine Fair of RAND Corporation had to say about India’s actual operation in Afghanistan and Iran:
“I think it would be a mistake to completely disregard Pakistan’s regional perceptions due to doubts about Indian competence in executing covert operations. That misses the point entirely. And I think it is unfair to dismiss the notion that Pakistan’s apprehensions about Afghanistan stem in part from its security competition with India. Having visited the Indian mission in Zahedan, Iran, I can assure you they are not issuing visas as the main activity! Moreover, India has run operations from its mission in Mazar (through which it supported the Northern Alliance) and is likely doing so from the other consulates it has reopened in Jalalabad and Qandahar along the border. Indian officials have told me privately that they are pumping money into Baluchistan. Kabul has encouraged India to engage in provocative activities such as using the Border Roads Organization to build sensitive parts of the Ring Road and use the Indo-Tibetan police force for security. It is also building schools on a sensitive part of the border in Kunar–across from Bajaur. Kabul’s motivations for encouraging these activities are as obvious as India’s interest in engaging in them. Even if by some act of miraculous diplomacy the territorial issues were to be resolved, Pakistan would remain an insecure state. Given the realities of the subcontinent (e.g., India’s rise and its more effective foreign relations with all of Pakistan’s near and far neighbors), these fears are bound to grow, not lessen. This suggests that without some means of compelling Pakistan to abandon its reliance upon militancy, it will become ever more interested in using it — and the militants will likely continue to proliferate beyond Pakistan’s control.”
The Foreign Policy Magazine also recently confirmed the Indians were neck deep in supporting the TTP in Pakistan:
While the U.S. media has frequently reported on Pakistani ties to jihadi elements launching attacks in Afghanistan, it has less often mentioned that India supports insurgent forces attacking Pakistan. “The Indians are up to their necks in supporting the Taliban against the Pakistani government in Afghanistan and Pakistan,” a former intelligence official who served in both countries said. “The same anti-Pakistani forces in Afghanistan also shooting at American soldiers are getting support from India. India should close its diplomatic establishments in Afghanistan and get the Christ out of there.”
Wounded Pakistani soldiers interviewed have recalled the stiff resistance they have faced while attempting to flush out terrorists armed with sophisticated weapons in Swat.
“They are well-equipped, they have mortars, they have rockets, sniper rifles and every type of sophisticated weapon,” says one Lt. Zaigham.“I am certain that foreign elements are behind these militants. Can I ask something very simple — who are their sponsors? What are their sources of funding? Who runs their logistics?”
Pakistan has substantial evidence and statements recorded by captured terrorists that confirm the involvement of Indian intelligence agencies in sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan from Afghan soil.
Even some Afghan officials have confirmed that India is using Afghanistan to stir trouble in Pakistan.
“India is using Afghan soil to destabilize Pakistan and Afghan security agencies are unable to stop Indian intervention due to absence of centralized government mechanism”, said Afghan Government’s Advisor, Ehsanullah Aryanzai, on the sidelines of Pak-Afgan Parliamentary Jirga at a local hotel on April 2, 2009.
The Lahore Police Commissioner Khusro Pervez has also said earlier today that Pakistan had unearthed evidence of a commute in Afghanistan a year and a half ago between members of Indian, Afghan and Israeli intelligence agencies.
‘I have firsthand knowledge of captured terrorists trained by Indian nationals in Afghanistan, who then crossed over and carried out attacks in Pakistan. The failed kidnap attempt on Sri Lankan cricketers earlier this year was carried out by militants working directly for Indian and Israeli intelligence agencies’, Khusro added.
Ironically, the suspects of the attack on the Sri Lankan cricketers were inside the ISI building on the very morning of the massive bombing that resulted in the collapse of the building on May 27, 2009.
It has been blatantly obvious to Pakistan Army and intelligence agencies that the Indians are up to their necks in supporting terrorism in Pakistan. Now that Indian made weapons have been found in Swat, will the civilian government take up the matter on a diplomatic level?
US special squad assassinated Benazir Bhutto?
The Nation (Pakistan)
NEW YORK (Online) – Former prime minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto was assassinated on the orders of the special death squad formed by former US vice-president Dick Cheney, which had already killed the Lebanese Prime Minister Rafique Al Hariri and the army chief of that country.
The squad was headed by General Stanley McChrystal, the newly-appointed commander of US army in Afghanistan. It was disclosed by reputed US journalist Seymour Hersh while talking to an Arab TV in an interview.
Hersh said former US vice-president Cheney was the chief of the Joint Special Operation Command and he clear the way for the US by exterminating opponents through the unit and the CIA. General Stanley was the in-charge of the unit.
Seymour also said that Rafiq Al Hariri and the Lebanese army chief were murdered for not safeguarding the US interests and refusing US setting up military bases in Lebanon. Ariel Sharon, the then prime minister of Israel, was also a key man in the plot.
A number of websites around the world are suspecting the same unit for killing of Benazir Bhutto because in an interview with Al-Jazeera TV on November 2, 2007, she had mentioned the assassination of Usama Bin Laden, Seymour said. According to BB, Umar Saeed Sheikh murdered Usama, but her words were washed out from the David Frosts report, he said.
The US journalist opined that it might have been done on purpose because the US leadership did not like to declare Usama dead for in the case the justification of the presence of US army in Afghanistan could no more be there, hence no reason for operation against Taliban.
On the other hand, the diplomatic analysts believe that BB murder is still a fable and it is for the reason Asif Zardari and other govt authorities are stressing UN probe in the murder case, also paying huge sums for it.
Another website has disclosed that Benazir was put to death in order to roll back Pakistan nuclear programme and the take over its nukes and India, Israel and the US, were making hectic efforts to deprive Pakistan of its atomic capability so as to bring to under their control.
